Cloud or your own server? An honest guide.

Infrastructure · 4 min read · Our team

Both can be the right answer. It depends less on the technology than on your business.

What speaks for the cloud

  1. Your people work at several locations or on the road.
  2. You don't want to look after and replace hardware.
  3. Your needs vary a lot.

What speaks for your own server

  1. Machines or programs in your building need a fast local connection.
  2. Your internet connection is the weak point.
  3. The load is steady, and the numbers work out better over the years.

Often it's both

Many businesses do best with a mix: email and collaboration in the cloud, special programs on site. What matters is to work out the total cost over several years first, and to settle where your data may be kept.
